Max-Planck-Gesellschaft (MPG)
The Max-Planck-Gesellschaft (MPG) is one of Germany’s largest, independent, not-for-profit research organisations, which conducts basic research in the natural sciences, life sciences, and humanities. Since its foundation in 1948, eighteen Nobel laureates have emerged from its ranks, putting it on a par with the best and most prestigious research institutions worldwide. The Max Planck Society, with its 84 Max Planck Institutesand facilities, is the international flagship for German science. The more than 15,000 publications each year in internationally renowned scientific journals are proof of the outstanding research work conducted at Max Planck Institutes – and many of those articles are among the most-cited publications in the relevant field.
