On March 6, the Alliance for Integrity (AfIn) in cooperation with IGCC and the Shiroli Manufacturers’ Association Kolhapur (SMAK), organised a business integrity training for SMEs in Kolhapur, Maharashtra. The objective of the AfIn trainings is to create awareness amongst companies concerning the topic of corruption, and to furthermore enable them to increase their business integrity on the base of scenario examples. The training in Kolhapur saw an overwhelming response from the private sector in the region and had representatives from 46 companies participating. The training, being conducted by Mr. Rajkumar Bidawakta from Sony Pictures Network India and Ms. Seema Choudhary from AfIn, covered modules on corruption and its various forms, the establishment of internal and external compliance systems and on how to initiate a collective action for integrity. The “Vyapaar Se Vyapaar Ko Business Integrity” training is part of an initiative for collective action of the textile sector being carried out by AfIn in Maharashtra. After the one-day interactive session, participants evaluated the experiences shared by Mr. Bidawakta and the whole training as highly valuable input for their own business operations. Mr. Bhavesh H. Patel, owner of Kolhapur Wooden Packing said, “the workshop helps not only to understand best business practices but also opens new business opportunities for us. We would like to collaborate more and take it further ahead.” Mr. Amar Jadhav from SMAK said, “this was a very relevant session, but this should be done more frequently.” AfIn and IGCC will continue to offer regular business integrity trainings at various locations in India.
The 64th Founders’ Day Lecture of the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce was held on Thursday, 27.2.2020 at the Rooftop of the Hotel Trident, Nariman Point, Mumbai. This year’s theme was the Future of Mobility. Hon. Steffen Bilger, Parliamentary State Secretary, Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure, Germany, who was accompanied by a 10 member delegation, delivered the Founder’s Day lecture. IGCC President, Mr. Georg Graf gave the welcome address while Mr. Steinruecke moderated the evening’s proceedings. In keeping with the theme of Mobility, Mr Steinruecke presented Hon. Minister Bilger with a replica of the iconic local mode of transport, the Autorickshaw. The evening concluded with Mr Nari Kalwani giving the Vote of Thanks, followed by a Gala Dinner.
